#Stop_Galamsey ❌

Galamsey which literally is borrowed from two words "gather" and "sell" ;over the years has been a serious challenge to our dear country Ghana 🇬🇭.Every government in its term of office tries to combat it.

Mining as a whole is not a bad practice, but making it illegal 🚫;thus without legal support, any form of mining is recognised illegal and it is a gateway to prosecution.

Illegal mining,"Galamsey" has done more harm than good. The greedy individuals who only care for their bellies see no wrong with illegal mining. But the truth of the matter is,with illegal mining, all our water bodies may end up being polluted forever since researchers say their latest turbidity check was giving values of 2000+. This alone is serving as a greater warning ⚠ to us.

Aside, the water pollution being caused by illegal mining, our lands too are becoming polluted and degraded. Our farmers also now find it difficult to mechanize the lands for farming🚜. The polluted water containing traces of cyanide and mercury is the same water that farmers will be using for irrigational purposes. And if traces of these harmful chemicals are found in our water bodies and foods, how is our survival rate?

It is therefore a share-task for every Ghanaian to help discourage illegal mining in order to save our natural resources not only for today's purposes but for tomorrow as well.

The progress of our Country is dependent on YOU & I and it's our civic responsibility to protect our resources for today's usage and for future usage as well.
